When it comes to Edmonton Hockey camps, Serdachny’s Summer Program of Excellence was an excellent choice. This hockey development program is designed to elevate players’ skills and performance, offering an exceptional training experience. This is Max’s first review of Serdachny; although it is his second Serdachny development camp, the other camp was held in the evenings during the hockey season.

The Legacy of Serdachny Power Skating
Serdachny Power Skating is renowned for its commitment to excellence in hockey instruction. In our program review process, we looked for athlete development in skating, speed, passing, shooting, and Hockey IQ; this Hockey Camp raised the bar.
An Overview of the Program
During the eight days in July, the Summer Program of Excellence provided intensive training tailored to serious athletes. The camp structure ensured participants made the most of their time on the ice. This program made me reconsider how I, as a parent, evaluate hockey camps; more on this at the end of this review.
Exceptional Instructors
The instructors at Serdachny’s camp were fantastic, offering knowledge and experience. The ratio of instructors to students was impressive, often allowing for one-on-one instruction, greatly benefiting the participants.

Focus on Skating and Speed
One of the key highlights of the camp was the emphasis on power skating. Players improved their speed and strength on the ice, which are crucial for competitive play.
Stickhandling and Puck Control
The camp dedicated significant time to developing stickhandling and puck control skills, which are essential for any hockey player aiming to excel.
Shooting and Scoring Techniques
Participants practiced various shooting techniques, learning how to create scoring opportunities in game situations.
Passing and Team Play
Effective passing is fundamental to team success. The camp focused on both the technical aspects of passing and working on consistency of form.
Building Hockey IQ with Game Situations
The program incorporated fun team games at the end of practices to bridge the gap between practice and competition, allowing players to apply their skills. Our athletes even played on a team with some of the amazing coaches who were teaching them.
What to Expect
Participants should come prepared for intense, focused training sessions. The program is demanding but rewarding for those committed to improvement.
Conclusion: Elevating Your Game with Serdachny
The Serdachny Summer Program of Excellence is one of the top hockey camps. From power skating to advanced tactical play, this camp offers everything a serious hockey player needs to take their game to the next level.
As I mentioned earlier, this camp made me rethink how I evaluated camps based on dollars per hour alone. Much like the Perfect Skating experience, this camp offered a high ratio of coaches to athletes. Question for you: Which is better value, $50 for one hour on-ice with 10 players per coach or $65 for one-hour on-ice with two players per coach? 60 minutes divided amongst 10 players is 6 minutes per player for $50 or $500 per hour of one-on-one. Alternatively, $65 per hour for two players and one coach is $65 for 30 minutes or $130 per hour of one-on-one! Now, that is remarkable! This camp is truly worth making a remark about!
By focusing on proper technique, consistent skill development, and a holistic approach to athlete growth, Serdachny continues to produce players who excel in the Alberta Elite Hockey League and beyond. For those looking to make significant strides in their hockey journey, this camp provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business.
Whether aiming for tryouts for AAA hockey or the Hockey Super League, dreaming of a college scholarship, or having professional aspirations, the Serdachny Summer Program of Excellence offers the tools, knowledge, and experience to achieve those goals.
